Whatever
sport or activity you practice ,
there are three different ways of muscles actions :
Concentric action :
The muscles fibers shorten as tension develops.
Eccentric action.
Muscles lengthen while developing tension when external resistance exceeds muscle
strength.
Isometric action.
This occurs when a muscle generates strength and attempts to shorten but can't overcome external resistance (for example when we try to move an object attached to the
ground). This method of contraction is particularly interesting for
all those which have a muscular accident and are
obliged to rest. There is neither progress nor profit of
strength but a muscular maintenance making it possible
not to start again from "zero" in their training.
