Physical Activity and Health


Two muscles play an important role in our physical shape because they are essential to our body. It's recommended to make regularly work those two muscles which are the heart and the diaphragm and act in a perfect synergy.

At the age of globalization of information via internet, let's take a little time to take care of us, of our body and its vital functions.

Our way of life requires a relatively weak energy expenditure. Our consumption of food is often too rich and our professional activity is generally insufficient for "burning" stored calories.

It's the main cause of problems of weight overload and a bad general physical shape.

But we can modify our practices and obtain beneficial results in short and long term on our health. It's possible to improve or to maintain our shape, if we increase our physical activities.

Let's make a short recall of fundamental functions of human body, ensured by muscles of which we don't think, but which are essential to life : heart (myocardium) and diaphragm.

 

For the first, it's recommended to make exercises of type cardio-training (walk, race, bicycle, oarsman...), which involve in the long-term a beneficial modification of vascular system and it will be benefic : reduction of heart rate. For example, for certain high level sportsmen, it was measured at rest 40 pulsations per minute, whereas it is on average of 75 pulsations for sedentary people.

To practice ourselves without any particular fitness hardware, do walking, make the judicious choice and don't take elevators or escalators. Some  choose wrongly to practice economy of efforts. Body needs movements during day time, we should go to see colleagues or friends instead of phoning to them; at any moment must be made profitable to remain active.

  However, too frequent or fast rises rate of heartbeat are not good. Always envisage a warm-up before an effort. Consequently always keep our self control and don't try to do exercises too much. Physical exercises must be progressive.

Before a sporting practice don't hesitate to consult a doctor, especially if we plans to make intensive exercises. It's a wise precaution in order to avoid muscular and pathological accidents.

 

Second muscle less known, diaphragm. It's a muscle flat, very powerful in the thoracic cage, dividing the thorax and the abdomen. It allows mainly respiratory mechanism and consequently, like heart, it's permanently requested. In the shape of a dome, it's crossed by vessels, nerves and oesophagus. In its active movement of inspiration, the diaphragm lowers its dome. Then it relaxes, return to its initial position (expiration); it carries out a " internal massage ".

Breathing is a function by which alive cells burn fuels for provide energy to  organism.

For a better oxygenation, non sportsmen or women must work expiration and less inspiration, which is a reflex phenomenon.

 

  Heart and diaphragm are a good couple team.

For a good balance, relaxation is really necessary. Don't hesitate to yawn lengthily and deeper (even if it seems generally ridiculous), because it's the best means of relaxing a great number of muscles, if we associate it with stretching. For slacken and evacuate the stress of the day, respiratory movements in an quiet environment are very effective.

In the same way, reserve a few moment for waking up carefully and start progressively your activities.
