Teenagers

For children and teenagers, weight-training is beneficial if it's well adapted to their age, because it will allow a development of the muscular system and a relief of the skeleton and articular system

Adolescence is considered between approximately 13 and 17 years old.

Specificities concerning this period:

Size, weight, and the development of muscular mass increase. Between 15 and 18 years old, the end of the growth is nearly ended. Muscular characteristics, joint and metabolic are practically identical to adults.

Then, when the body can support heavier weight, a more intensive work will improve performances of a possible future athlete.

Specificities concerning weight training :

This period will be beneficial for strength development. If we seek to increase strength by muscular hypertrophy during this time, results will be undoubtedly very conclusive. The body of the teenager has a strong anabolic activity (high rate of hormones), a strong capacity of adaptation to efforts.

At the time of the peak of growth (puberty), the lower limbs reach their final size more quickly, the spinal column will grow more quickly "to catch up" the lower limbs thereafter. Muscular training will have to consider this with a work of the lower limbs but we'll not request the spinal column at the end of phase of growth.

Exercises using heavy weights are avoided during this period. At this age we'll should not make too heavy squats, curl-grip, or military press (pressures on lumbar).

Reinforcement of abs muscles is recommended, bench press is recommended, pull-ups, leg press, triceps bar dips.

Anyway, a medical examination of aptitude and control is recommended. All is a problem of maturation, workout doesn't make backache when it is carried out correctly. Ask advices to a trainer to do correctly these exercises.

We propose to you to establish a personalized training workouts to allow you to achieve your goals (toning up, maintenance, improvement, loss of weight, muscular development and so on ... ). The routines are established by our specialists in coaching, according to a precise questionnaire which you will have to fill out.
